Port Douglas Carnivale, 17-26 May 2013, will serve up fresh regional produce, a first-class location and north Queensland hospitality, along with an event program that is the largest and most diverse ever.
The opening weekend will include the Sheraton Mirage Longest Lunch and the Macrossan Street Parade on Friday, 17 May and ‘Food, Wine & A Taste of Port’ and the Family Beach Day on Saturday, 18 May. Kicking off the second weekend of food events will be ‘Palates of Port’ on Friday, 25 May.
The following day will see the launch of a new one-day free event, ‘A Taste of Paradise’, which organisers hope will grow to become one of the region’s most significant food events.
Held all day in Market Park, it will showcase the food, restaurants, chefs and beverage makers of the region, and celebrity chefs will share tips via cooking demonstrations.
That night there’s an outdoor concert at the Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas, and the Meridian Seafood Extravaganza at the Port Douglas marina on Sunday morning, ends the carnival.
