KIWI PASSENGERS ON P&O CRUISES’ PACIFIC PEARL HAVE DRESS CIRCLE FOR WORLD FAMOUS VIVID SYDNEY LIGHT AND SOUND EVENT
Hundreds of New Zealand passengers on a cruise to Australia onboard P&O Cruises’ superliner Pacific Pearl are set for a dress circle view of the world famous Vivid Sydney festival of light, music and ideas around Sydney Harbour.
Even better, Pacific Pearl will be part of the eclectic light and sound presentation as the P&O Cruises’ ‘See Voyage’ display is projected onto Pearl’s side – the first time a cruise ship has been part of the kaleidoscopic festival.
And in a case of pure serendipity, Pacific Pearl’s two-night stay in Sydney on a cruise departing from Auckland on Tuesday (May 21) coincides with the start of the much anticipated Vivid Sydney event.
Timed perfectly for the start of the 18-day Winter festival of light, music and ideas, on Friday and Saturday (May 24-25), Pacific Pearl will come alive with P&O Cruises’ ‘See Voyage’ taking excited viewers on a virtual cruise.
“It’s unusual for a P&O Cruises’ ship to have an overnight transit call at the Overseas Passenger Terminal in Sydney and this cruise itinerary was planned two years ago as part of P&O Cruises’ overall cruise program,” said Tammy Marshall, Senior Vice President P&O Cruises.
“So, it is amazingly good fortune for our New Zealand passengers that their cruise coincides with the first two opening nights of one of the most spectacular and colourful shows on the Sydney events calendar.
“They will have dress circle to see the Sydney Opera House and city buildings light up in a blaze of intricate colour and movement. There will be many people around the harbour wishing they could join the Kiwi visitors on Pacific Pearl.”
On both nights of Pearl’s transit call, the P&O Cruises’ ‘See Voyage’ extravaganza of light and sound will run for five minutes every 30 minutes from 6pm to midnight with the Sydney Opera House and its vicinity the best viewing spot to take in the display.
The colourful fast moving show captures Vivid Sydney’s festival of creativity, enjoyment and escapism, which are also part and parcel of cruising to the Pacific Islands to visit some of the world’s most beautiful destinations.
“In addition to taking in the Vivid Sydney sights and sounds our New Zealand guests will have all the time needed to fan out and enjoy the dining, shopping and touring opportunities that Sydney has to offer,” Ms Marshall said.
“To have Pacific Pearl’s two-night transit call to Sydney coincide with Vivid is pure serendipity and we couldn’t be more thrilled to offer something truely unique and special for our passengers.”
