The Los Angeles Police Department has begun a crackdown on jaywalking in downtown Los Angeles. Officials told the Downtown News the ‘zero tolerance’ campaign for jaywalkers is designed to reduce accidents during the holidays. The crackdown, with fines of US$190, also targets those light has begun flashing red. LA’s tough stance sees an average of less than one person per month hit by a car on Downtown streets.
