It’s not often that one associates the term “blue” with Waiheke, apart from the sparkling waters that surround the island, that is. However, once a year, Waiheke turns blue … well, technically speaking, it sounds blue.
Last year’s Waiheke Winter Blues festival saw twelve New Zealand blues bands turning up the heat for a weekend of bluesy heaven. The 2010 sees some old faces returning, as well as a delightful mix of new ones. With a range of blues styles on offer, there’s something to suit everyone’s taste.
The line up for 2010 includes Hammond Gamble, Mahia Blackmore, The Katy Soljak Band, The Gary Harvey Band, Kippa, Shayne Hurricane Wills, Mojo Risers, Tony Painting & the Power Band and B Squared. Additionally, for one night only, theorganisers are bringing back the original cast of Lady Sings The Blues which toured New Zealand in the 1980’s to rave reviews androaring success.
Tickets for this special event will be limited so early bookings are your best bet.
