Cathay Pacific is celebrating the launch of its Hong Kong – Madrid route today (02 June) with special fares for Kiwis from NZD$2,069 economy return on sale until the end of June. These special fares are available for travel departures between 15 October – 30 November 2016.
Kiwi travellers can now enjoy a one-stop itinerary to Madrid with the option to stay over in Hong Kong for just the price of the extra taxes.
Cementing its position as a premium airline, Cathay Pacific has also increased its baggage allowance to a generous 30kg in economy, 35kg in Premium Economy, and 40kg in business, for travellers UK/Europe.
Cathay Pacific also announced today its collaboration with The Langham, Hong Kong hotel in launching an all new inflight menu for its Hong Kong-Madrid service.
A range of authentic Spanish dishes specially designed by the hotel’s Executive Chef Pedro Samper will be available for Business Class passengers flying from Hong Kong to Madrid until 31 August 2016.
One of the signature dishes, “Traditional braised Basque-style cod fish with clams in a salsa verde sauce”, originates from Pedro’s hometown village of San Sebastián, a coastal city and one of the most famous tourist destinations in Spain. This dish is regarded as comfort food for the locals, best served during festivals and celebratory occasions.
Cathay Pacific Head of Catering Aaron Claxton said, “From tasty tapas to classic soups, Spanish cuisine is well-known for having a beautiful blend of cultures. We are delighted to collaborate with The Langham, Hong Kong to offer our passengers an array of exciting Spanish delicacies. In fact, this is the first time we are serving local Spanish dishes onboard, which I believe will provide our passengers a great opportunity to savour the real tastes of Spain on their voyage to the exciting city of Madrid.”
Cathay Pacific’s extensive network also allows for travellers to fly into one European city, such as Madrid, and fly out of another, such as Paris, on the return journey meaning you can get more from your trip.
All quoted fares include taxes and fly via Hong Kong.
