El Capitan Canyon, an all-season comfort camping destination just north of Santa Barbara, has announced one of the widest ranges of nature lodging accommodations in the U.S., from fully furnished safari tents, yurts and cedar cabins along the canyon floor to bike and car campsites and RV sites perched upon a bluff in its Ocean Mesa Campground. With more than 300 days of sunshine annually, El Capitan Canyon provides an unprecedented range of options for camping in all seasons and for all reasons.
To kick off this bike touring season, El Capitan Canyon introduces its newest offering, a bike-in comfort camping package for bikers looking for a relaxing rest stop on their tour.
“Spring is a popular time for bike tourists to enjoy the great outdoors; we invite them to relax and enjoy what El Capitan Canyon offers,” said Managing Partner Terri Bowman. “Bike-in sites are just one of the many accommodation types here. Multigenerational families and groups with different preferences find multiple camping choices especially convenient when vacationing together.”
Spring Bike Camping Package
April and May is a time when many long-distance bikers plan multi-day tours of the California coast, so El Capitan Canyon has introduced a new bike camping package for bikers to unwind and rejuvenate before the next leg of their journey. The package includes one night in a bike camping site at Ocean Mesa, a 55-minute massage and a bottle of Happy Camper wine. In addition, bikers can use a full range of Ocean Mesa’s amenities: pool and Jacuzzi; bathroom, shower and laundry facilities; free Wi-Fi; and the convenience market. The package is $175 per night plus tax and gratuity, available April 1 through May 23. Massage treatments for additional guests may be added, and upgrades to other accommodation types are available.
Ocean Mesa Campground’s 20 bike and car camping sites each include a fire pit/grill and picnic table. The 80 RV sites all offer full hook-ups and 50-amp service and include pull-through and back-in options for RVs up to 50’ with slide-outs.
In addition to their own facilities overlooking the Pacific, Ocean Mesa guests can also enjoy El Capitan Canyon’s amenities just a short walk away, including the Market & Deli, spa cabin, playground, pool, ropes course, hiking trails and guided hikes to visit the llama farm.
Comprehensive Camping Options
Adventure Yurts: Down in the canyon alongside the creek, El Capitan Canyon’s newest accommodation is the versatile adventure yurt. Each circular canvas structure is 20’ in diameter and includes a queen size bed and twin size bed with additional twin trundle bed, refrigerator, ceiling fan and skylight. Bathrooms are conveniently located nearby.
Safari Tents: The 26 canvas safari tents are 12’x14’, set on raised wooden decks, and fully furnished with beds, linens and electricity. Safari tents contain one queen or two double beds. The tents also offer easy access to the Canyon’s bathhouses.
Cedar Cabins: The 108 contemporary rustic cedar cabins come in a variety of sizes and bedding arrangements for two to six guests, from romantic Creekside Kings to family-sized Canyon Suites and classic Canyon Bunks. Some cabins offer gas fireplaces and large soaking tubs, sleeping lofts, or separate sitting areas. Every cabin has a kitchenette, bathroom and front deck looking out on either the creek or the canyon.
Safari Cabin Suite: The Canyon’s ultimate accommodation is the Safari Cabin Suite, a spacious two-bedroom cabin on a private hilltop with living room, bathroom, two fireplaces, full kitchen, deck with barbecue grill, cookware and dishware. The suite boasts spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean and the Los Padres National Forest.
