Opening now in the historic yet vibrant city of Tianjin, Banyan Tree Tianjin Riverside sets a significant milestone as Banyan Tree’s first luxury hotel in Northern China and the Group’s tenth property in the country. Building on the group’s unique urban resort concept, the property combines luxurious resort amenities and experiences with metropolitan living.
Urban Oasis Imbued with Tianjin’s Historical and Cultural Heritage
Banyan Tree Tianjin Riverside, located on the east bank of the Hai River and overlooking the urban cityscape, provides easy access to Tianjin’s historical and cultural heritage sites. Staying true to the values of rejuvenation and modern Asian hospitality, the urban resort inspires guests with a new perspective of the vibrant port-side metropolis, through its rich history. Tianjin, which means “the place where the emperor crossed the river,” allows travellers to journey back in time by following the footsteps of influential Chinese intellectuals and revolutionary figures that contributed to the city’s unique heritage.
Located in the former Austrian concession district, the resort is adjacent to the Italian part of the city, a picturesque region of European-style villas, historic bridges, and churches. Guests may enjoy leisurely strolls along the many vibrant thoroughfares and waterfront, such as Hai River Promenade and Italian Street, to experience an exotic journey in Tianjin’s urban centre. Additionally, the Mazu Temples built in the Yuan Dynasty add a sense of awe and wonder to every guest’s journey.
Cosmopolitan Elegance Meets Historical Splendour
Banyan Tree Tianjin Riverside blends local history and culture into its interior design. The 159 elegant rooms draw inspiration from the muted tones and refined aesthetic of traditional Chinese ink paintings, and embody the intrinsic charms of the Orient. Each guest room is designed to be a tranquil haven for rest and relaxation, artfully crafted with richly-textured materials and tastefully accentuated with intricate furnishing and finishes, including a sizable “Relaxation Tub” for guests to enjoy a delightful soak. A variety of room types are available, including the signature Deluxe Riverside Retreat, Premier Riverside Retreat, and Banyan Tree Suite, most of which feature large French windows overlooking the river.
Awaken the Senses at our award-winning Banyan Tree Spa and Restaurants
Banyan Tree Tianjin Riverside is styled as a tropical garden retreat and is the first hotel of the group to present the renowned Banyan Tree Spa in Northern China. The 1000 sq ft Spa includes three Double Royal Rooms with double rainmist facilities, one Double Deluxe Room, five Single Deluxe Rooms, one Facial Room, a Beauty Salon with two Foot Massage Rooms and a Relaxation Area. Wellness facilities comprise the gymnasium, hot and warm dip pools and a 25 metre swimming pool.
Guests will reawaken their senses by the intuitive touch of the professionally trained therapists. Deluxe spa and beauty treatments based on time-honoured Asian healing therapies, includes the signature Royal Banyan treatment to combat the dry climate of Northern China. It features the Royal Banyan Herbal Pouch Massage where an herbal pouch dipped in warm Sesame Oil, complements the East-meets-West massage techniques to improve blood circulation and muscular tension. The unique blend of Ginger and Lemongrass Body Scrub deeply exfoliates while moisturising the skin, followed by a Jade Face Massage.
Also inspired by the Chinese Five Elements healing philosophy, Classic Rejuvenation presents a customised selection of five different therapies using indigenous herbs and spices – Gold, Wood, Water, Fire and Earth to meet the individual bodily needs.
The hotel’s five food and beverage outlets offer a wide range of exhilarating dining experiences. Indulge in the finest high quality meats and wine at The Grill where eight different types of salt and pepper are available. Guests can enjoy all-day dining, fresh ingredients and theme nights at the River Café; and fall in love with authentic Cantonese and innovative Tianjin-influenced dishes at Bai Yun, presided over by a Cantonese master chef. Those looking for evening entertainment will appreciate the Jin Bar’s exclusive yet relaxed setting and wide range of beverages, or the casual and welcoming ambiance of the Lobby Lounge, providing guests a number of dining and drinking options to choose from.
To provide guests with the freshest food, River Café and the Grill use assorted and seasonal home-grown produce from Banyan Tree Tianjin Riverside’s “Happy Farm”. Located in the Xiqing District, Happy Farm harvests fresh, chemical-free and fertiliser-free produce and herbs such as tomatoes, eggplants, and rosemary, in a 560 square meter area four to six times a year.
